Jack Jones - Careers with us Case Study

What were you doing before you joined A&E Agency?

Before I joined A&E Agency I was working for a high street recruitment organisation recruiting for permanent administration positions. I found my time working here very uninspiring and I was actually struggling in my role. It was an extremely slow paced environment that took a long time to see any rewards for your work. It was during this time that I started to question whether recruitment was the right career for me.

I was ready to leave the industry when I got a call from A&E Agency four and a half years ago. They convinced me that I had the skill set and drive to be successful and that I would thrive in the fast paced specialist environment that they would provide.

How have you progressed your career during your time at A&E Agency?

In April 2013 I decided to make the move to A&E Agency as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant in the medicine team. I can honestly say I haven’t looked back since. At that time there were just three people in the medicine team compared to the 10 now which I head up. In the four and a half years that I have been here I have received five promotions to climb to my current position as UK Sales Manager for the medicine team.

I have thrived ever since I joined the company because I knew that if I worked hard I would get the rewards I deserve. I would fully recommend working here for any ambitious and driven person that wants to succeed.

What do you think are the most important skills for a recruiter to do well at A&E Agency?

In order to succeed here I would say you need to be self-motivated and to be desperate to progress your career. If you don’t have the personal drive to be successful then you won’t get very far. When I am looking for a new person to join the team I look for someone with a great work ethic long before I look for someone with a great skill set. This is because I believe that the skill set can be built with hard work, however the one thing we can’t teach is a strong work ethic.

What do you value most about working for A&E Agency?

Working for A&E Agency has changed my life completely from when I initially joined. I have achieved goals in my life that I never thought were possible before I started working here. I also value the people I work with; everyone comes in with a smile on their face because they enjoy their work. We have such a vibrant atmosphere in the office and there is very much an attitude of work hard and play hard which I hugely value.

What has been your proudest moment here?

My proudest moment was definitely setting the record for the biggest billing month for placing non-consultant doctors. It was a great achievement and it was also nice to receive praise from everyone in the team. We celebrate everyone’s success at A&E Agency.
