We are opening applications for a permanent Consultant in Acute Medicine to join a dynamic team of 10 physicians at a prestigious NHS trust. It is an exciting team for you to join the department as the trust has agreed on an extensive business case to support the expansion of staffing and services to this team. Due to this, there is some flexibility, and the team is welcoming full time and part-time applications for this post.
If you have completed their MRCP or PLAB and are in the process of applying for GMC Registration are welcome to apply for these posts providing you have the suitable experience for the role. The team would consider you if you have trained in other specialities and are interested in hybrid posts between Acute Medicine and other medical specialities (such as Nephrology /Respiratory Medicine and Endocrine to name a few).
About the job
Your role would include 10 PA posts with clinical 7.5 DCCs and 2.5 SPAs including 1 which is for engagement in corporate activity. 1 PA of the clinical DCCs is available to support the candidate’s areas of special interest. Additional speciality sessions are negotiable in discussion with the Director of Unscheduled Care. There is a further 1.5PAs available to join the Consultant Physician out of hour’s medical on-call rota.
Of this an average morning AMU ward round/Short stay ward round may have approximately 10-12 patients per ward round. In an acute medical take, the average intake of patients per hospital site ranges from 40 to 60 patients per 24hr with approximately 10-12 patients requiring post take reviews per four-hour shift and approximately 20 to 30 patients (new & follow up) will be expected to be managed per day when the new SDEC opens. These patient numbers are managed with the support of an appropriate junior workforce.
