The Trust has three sites, serving the growing population of 750,000. At this organisation you will have increased opportunities to enhance services to ensure the best patient experience and clinical outcomes. You will be making up a team of 45 consultants including 2 MOD Consultants. The post is advertised on the basis of 10 PAs and any additional PAs will be subject to negotiation. You may need to take part in General/Obstetric Consultant on-call rota.

Main Duties:

A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee, Clinical Lead for Theatres & Associate Divisional Director on behalf of the Medical Director, three months after the commencement date of appointment. 

The distribution of workload and departmental planning requires a degree of flexibility from Consultant Anaesthetists. All of the predictable and unpredictable DCC work of this post is annualised and will consist of a flexible number of clinical sessions per week (planned sessions 4-8 for theatre) to an agreed annualised total. A typical week will consist of a mixture of elective lists such as ENT, colo-rectal, maxillo-facial surgery or gynaecology, but could also include emergency anaesthesia or trauma. This way of working has advantages for both the Individual and the Department

It's currently undergoing a regeneration plan to provide high-quality residential and commercial properties in the heart of the city with plans to create extra space for more retail and cultural attractions. In the area, there are a variety of housing alternatives, including city life, small towns, and villages, all of which are within a reasonable commute to the hospitals. There are also outstanding schools and a wide selection of social and recreational activities to choose from.

Essential Criteria:

  • FRCA/EDAIC 
  • GMC Registration 

Desirable Criteria: 

  • CCT
  • NHS Experience
