Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a wide number of roles at an NHS teaching hospital in the Midlands. If you are an ST4 or a Consultant in Emergency Medicine, we would be keen to speak with you to understand your career goals.

Why work at this trust?

This NHS Trust can offer you great career prospects and a fantastic work-life balance. Situated in one of the most attractive parts of the country with the dramatic countryside and bustling towns we have state-of-the-art facilities, supportive friendly teams and excellent professional development opportunities.

The team of highly motivated doctors spans a vast range of specialities from Ophthalmology to Anaesthetics. You will work within a well-supported and multi-disciplined team, ensuring you reach your full potential. The hospitals are forward-looking and well equipped, providing you with the very best environment to work in.

They are an undergraduate teaching hospital. Last year they finished second in the league tables for student satisfaction, with only Oxford’s medical school rated higher, and fourth in the Guardian newspaper’s university league table for medicine, with only Oxford, Cambridge and University College London finishing higher. The majority of consultants are involved with medical education and a substantial number have sessions seconded to the medical school and hold substantive or honorary university titles.

Why live in Shrewsbury?

Shrewsbury is continually been named as one of the best places to live in the UK by The Sunday Times. Rubbing shoulders with the likes of York, Bury St Edmonds, Dundee and overall winner, Salisbury, Shrewsbury was highlighted as one of the best places to live in the Midlands region.

Shrewsbury was described as “an exceptionally attractive, defiantly unaffected town with an award-winning market and sweeping views” by the judging panel who used their own expert knowledge alongside statistics, including house prices.

Reading first-hand accounts of why doctors like moving to Shrewsbury the number one reasons are as follows:

  • Strong sense of community
  • Pride in the appearance of the town
  • Beautiful old bridges and buildings
  • Lots of great food places
  • Good unique shopping destinations
  • Everything on your doorstep – don’t always need a car
  • Lots of nature as the town is in the middle of the countryside
  • Not too busy
  • Proximity to Birmingham and Wales
  • Easy commute to Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and even London
