Are you an emergency medicine registrar looking for an opportunity to join an NHS Trust dedicated to modernising and transforming the delivery of high-quality care? 

We are pleased to announce that we are working with one of the busiest major trauma centers in Europe. This organization is internationally recognized for its specialist services which includes the renal, neurosciences, cancer, and trauma services. A&E Agency is seeking a forward-thinking, dynamic and motivated registrar to join a supportive team of 30 consultants, 63 junior doctors, and 48 Advanced Clinical Practitioners.

The ED department serves over 150,000 new patients a year.

Key Responsibilities

The organisation has three sites, you will only be based in one. Your shifts will be split into...

Resus Doctor – 3 shifts per 24hrs

Ambulatory Doctor - 1x10hr shifts per day

Paediatrics Doctor – 2x10hr shifts per day

Majors Doctor – 3 shifts per 24hrs

Admin/Medical Student Teaching/Radalert/Experience in Injury Clinic – 4-10hrs per day 

    You will be required to...

    To assess and provide emergency treatment to patients attending the Emergency Department and liaise with specialties 

    To act as resuscitation team leader for seriously ill or injured patients including children while they are in the Emergency Department. 

    To assist in the provision of an effective emergency medicine service for the people of Nottinghamshire in collaboration with colleagues.  

    To assist in the supervision and training of junior doctors, Advanced Practitioners and ENPs. 

    Liaise with sister in charge and nursing staff and to organise smooth running of the department with attention to floor management in line with national targets.  

    To take a lead in ensuring the 4 hours target is achieved without compromising good quality of patient care.

    Liaise with shop floor consultant in charge for clinical and administrative advice as appropriate. 

    CESR Program

    The Certificate of Eligibility of Specialist Registration (CESR) is a competency-based program run by the Trust providing the training needed to meet the requirements of the emergency medicine CCT curriculum and entry on to the specialist GMC registrar. 

    The program provides fantastic opportunities to prepare for the FRCEM exams with the department's award-winning in-house teaching programs (awarded for ‘Education Team of the Year 2017’ by Health Education England). This is ideal for SHOs, clinical fellows or registrars who want to pursue a career in emergency medicine to enhance their confidence and experience within a Major Trauma Centre. It takes 4 years to complete and includes rotations across the following specialties:

    Adult ED 

    Paediatrics ED 


    Intensive Care 

    Acute Medicine
