I am looking for Junior Clinical Fellow in GICU to join this 32 bedded unit in one of the largest acute teaching hospitals on the south coast of England.

With a greater support of flexible working - now is the time to join this trust initially joining for 6 months and extendable to a year depending on the candidate's progression within the trust

Previous critical care experience is desired but not essential. Applicants from all acute specialties including Anaesthetics, medical, emergency medicine or surgical backgrounds will be considered. The post will provide training and experience in all aspects of intensive care medicine

The role is for Junior Fellows who wish to gain experience in the management of Level 3 and Level 2 patients in an Intensive Care Unit. Preference will be given to those who have previous experience in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia.

The Junior Fellows are primarily involved in the daily management of intensive care (GICU) patients and surgical high dependency patients (SHDU). Attendance at ward rounds is expected. Routine work is shared among all junior medical staff. Trainees will be expected to have or be willing to acquire skills such as central venous insertion (CVC) and arterial cannulation. More complex procedures may be undertaken if progress allows. Fellows will be expected to gain adequate knowledge and experience in all organ support measures

Essential Criteria:

  • Full GMC Registration
  • Medical Degree
  • At least 2 years post qualification

Desirable Criteria

  • FRCA / MRCP / FRCS / MCEM or equivalent
  • Current ALS / ATLS certification
  • Relevant experience in an acute specialty
  • NHS experience - minimum 1 years +
  • Previous Intensive Care Medicine or Anaesthesia experience within the NHS
