Senior House Officer(SHO) - General Medicine

Job Description

Applications are invited for Trust Grade SHO posts within our General Medicine Departments. The post is a rotational post and will involve working in various specialties including Cardiology, Respiratory, Endocrinology, Care of the Elderly and Acute Medicine.

The post is ideal for candidates that maybe interested in joining a Deanery Training programme and broadening their experience within the NHS and medical specialties.

You will be expected to be part of the General Medicine on-call team after a probation period (which will depend on your level of experience)

Based in the North East of England we provide a range of hospital and community health services from our leading facilities including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blaydon urgent care centre and Bensham Hospital, all within Gateshead.

Established in 2005, we were one of the first foundation trusts in the country and since then have consistently achieved the highest levels of care for patients.

As a group we employ around 4,200 staff and currently provide 600 hospital beds across Gateshead. Our primary focus is on providing excellent general health services to our local community complemented by key specialist areas including Gynaecology, maternity, palliative care and old age psychiatry.


Successful applicants will need to meet the following criteria

  • Full GMC Registration
  • MBBS or equivalent (basic medical degree)
  • 2+ Years UK experience in desired specialty
  • Able to pass compliance frameworks

250 Hours:  £ 200 in Vouchers
