Job Description

This A&E department has implemented a toolkit for doctors’ development and retention which has had a positive impact on the 4-hour performance target. It provides tried and tested information regarding best practices including practical support for development towards successful entry onto the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).

At this time, we are looking for a Speciality Doctor in A&E to join the team at this dynamic and innovative trust. If you are an emergency medicine doctor and looking for the next step in you’re A&E career which can support you towards your future goals, you’re in the right place.

Can you tell me more about the job?

You will commence with a fixed term Specialty Doctor contract in Emergency Medicine for 12 months and providing satisfactory progress is made at the end of the first year, successful candidates will have the option to progress onto the CESR programme.

Following successful progression through the programme, we will be able to guarantee specific secondment-style modules in the CESR programme - secondments offered include Anaesthetics, ITU, Acute Medicine and Paediatric Emergency Medicine. In addition, you will be allocated a designated Consultant supervisor for the duration of the rotation, as well as a CESR mentor.

You will be expected to participate in the 24-hour Emergency Department Middle-Grade rota.

The post holder must be registered with the GMC and hold a full licence to practice.

What do I need to apply?

  • MRCEM or equivalent
  • OET/IELTS if applicable
  • GMC Registration
  • 5+ years in emergency medicine /A&E
